About

Jan Dill MAFJan E. Hanohano Dill is a Native Hawaiian dedicated to helping communities become healthy and resilient. In 1997, he formed the non-profit organization Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) and in 1998, the Consortium for Hawai‘i Ecological Engineering Education (CHEEE), now known as Mālama ‘Āina Foundation (MAF). For nearly twenty years, PIDF has served thousands of children and families in Hawai‘i with free preschools, foster parenting, family education programs and projects in natural and human resource sustainability.   CHEEE/MAF has focused its efforts in teaching science, math and Native Hawaiian culture through hands-on project-based learning to increase engagement and academic success, while also teaching students to become better stewards of Hawaii’s unique environment.

Jan has had extensive international experience, but his heart remains in Hawai‘i and he is committed to helping struggling families find success. He believes that traditional culture and perspectives can be used in contemporary communities to help bring about transformational change.

As you join the discussion, please visit our website outlining the work of PIDF and enjoy the short music video about PIDF’s preschool and family education for the homeless. Jan’s opinions and views, however, are his musings alone about the issues of change and social justice and do not necessarily reflect the vision and policies of PIDF or MAF.
